Focussing on the power of hand-making to change the future – Future Makers empowers our neighbourhood to create a resilient, prosperous network of eco makers, projects and services in Lambeth.
It is understandable to feel overwhelmed by the scale of what we’re up against – from the rising cost of living, to the climate crisis it can be hard to imagine a way forward, but sometimes great things start with the simplest steps.
Innovate: Business development and grants
We know that the Lambeth Community is a hotbed of side hustlers and entrepreneurs, developing exciting and innovative products and services from their kitchen tables. We are committed to offering opportunities, to entrepreneurs from all backgrounds, the expertise to take their ideas to the next level.
Future Makers programme is offering targeted evening workshops that take useful insights from the business world and make it relevant to grassroots changemakers and handmade business owners. Ever wanted more support with writing a business plan that’s actually useful, telling your story effectively and building a following, or launching without debt or startup investment. This incubator is for you.
Explore: Paid opportunities for local practitioners
The Remakery has a series of low cost communal workspaces, where practitioners can develop new techniques and products with ecological benefits.
This autumn we will be supporting a cohort of practitioners to explore a research and development project that can benefit the Lambeth Community. Our support package includes: small grants to cover R and D time; professional digital content creation; support to develop and promote courses as part of our programme; and access to space.
Access: Workshops to get you started
Making processes, from woodwork, to soap, to textiles, help to counter anxiety, even climate anxiety, promote well being, and build self esteem. At the Remakery you can learn new skills to make beautiful artisanal objects for your friends and family, or as the beginning of a new career path – who knows where your unlocked talent will lead.
